Meet Laureen Thomas

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) providing counseling in Sanford North Carolina.

I received my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in 2001 at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. I have completed the required two years of postmasters clinical supervision required for state licensure.

I am a solo practitioner, and consequently can offer private confidential services.  I personally answer all calls and will respond quickly to any questions that you may have.  I collaborate with colleagues on a regular basis for the purpose of; staying current on the latest technologies and methodologies in social work, and to ensure efficacy of services.

I have specialized training in practice with all ages and specialize in working with families, couples, military members, and the elderly.  I have experience in working in both inpatient residential programs as well as outpatient counseling.  I am currently; contracted to provide EAP services, employed to provide psychotherapy in a nursing home, and practice regularly in my private practice.  I have extensive experience in working with military members and their families both within the United States and overseas.

I take a family approach to understanding individuals in their current and past relationships. My role is to help people find a solution to their problems.  I tend to use an eclectic approach with frequent insight oriented, psycho-dynamic, and cognitive behavioral strategies and approaches.  I generally work with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples on; childhood disorders, psychotic disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, and somatoform disorders
